I've created a new blog for the summer called the 2007 Summer Stash Out. I've been waiting for another stash out to start but I believe the people are busy and haven't decided if they wish to run it. I know the feeling! I've been contemplating this for a month now and thought I run one myself. Never done that before!
I wanted to get it up and running as the holiday weekend (weekends depending on what country your in) is coming very soon.
For those who would like to participate it very simple. Between the May 2-4 weekend (or Memorial Day weekend) and Labour Day weekend we will vow to knit from our stash. Thus being said, you can vow to finish up those works in progress. Yes, we all have at least one haning around! Or you can vow to working on your knitted/crochet Christmas list and actually have them out and done on time this year.
Here is the blog link: http://2007summerstashout.blogspot.com/
So feel free to pop in and if you like to sign up we would love to have you!

Thursdays doodlings
Wow what a rain storm we had yesterday. Thunder and lighting in the morning and just rain, rain and more rain. The gardens and the lawn needed it desparately though. Will be weeding the flower beds I guess this weekend.
Been working on my shawl and I am still at ball 1 1/2. Ball three turned out to be more beige than green so I took it back to the good people at Sarnia Craft Supply and was able to switch it for one similar to my colours. The die lot, colour and brand were all identical. Not sure what the good people at Lion Brand were smoking but it must of been good. {{I'm in a silly - bashing mood}}
DD and I had a district advancement last night. Kim and Tammy did an amazing job of decorating the gym. Everyone had a great time and our rap song got applause. lol We (as in all the leader's of our district) gave our district leader a rose bud tree. She loved it! Ontario guiding is changing so this was the last of its kind last night. And all the girls behaved very well and the cake was good as well.
Had lunch with my good friend Karen and got to talk shop. Looked at the flowers at Zehrs and contiplating what I want to put in my gardens this year. Not sure of everything I want in the veggie patch as well.
Well I should go and get something done!

Another funny
Two in one day! Gotta love it. hehe
White House rolls out the red carpet for state visit by the Queen
WASHINGTON (AP) - Washington turned out with adoring schoolchildren and ladies in hats for the Queen's visit.
The White House, too, laid on special touches at President George W. Bush's first-ever white-tie state dinner to make the Queen feel welcome. The centuries-old vermeil flatware and candelabras came from a London silversmith. A sugar replica of the Queen's 1953 coronation rose graced the cake. English farmhouse cheeses accompanied the salad course.
And the traditional "special guest" invited only at the last minute was sure to be of interest to an avid horse enthusiast such as the Queen: Calvin Borel, the jockey who rode Street Sense to victory in the Kentucky Derby this weekend with the royals in attendance.
"It's just like winning the Kentucky Derby - it might even be better," Borel said as he arrived for the dinner.
On the other hand, there was the president suggesting the Queen Elizabeth is over 230 years old.
The president's slip of the tongue during morning welcoming speeches was quickly smoothed over with humour. But it wasn't exactly the flawless effort Bush had hoped would erase memories of the "talking hat" episode during the Queen's last U.S. visit.
In 1991, during Bush's father's administration, a too-tall lectern left the audience able to see only the Queen's hat behind microphones.
The Queen, a sprightly 81, gave an embarrassed Bush a gracious nod after he suggested she had celebrated the United States' founding in 1776. He meant to say she had attended 1976 bicentennial festivities.
"She gave me a look that only a mother could give a child," the president quipped, earning a reserved chuckle from his guest.
mentioned "freedom" and "liberty" seven times.
"Your majesty, I appreciate your leadership during these times of danger and decision," he said.
By contrast, the Queen said her fifth journey to the United States in 50 years was an occasion to "step back from our current preoccupations."
In the leaders' toasts at dinner, they took opposite tacks. Bush praised her for a reign that has "deepened our friendship and strengthened our alliance," while the British monarch talked of the threat of terror, problems like climate change and the likelihood of occasional disagreement between allies.
"Ours is a partnership always to be reckoned with in the defence of freedom and the spread of prosperity," she said.
Earlier gaffes aside, the day had the White House at its freshly painted best and inspired excitement inside and outside its gates.
Under lampposts adorned with the two countries' flags, throngs hoping for a rare glimpse of royalty lined Pennsylvania Avenue for much of the day. Hats of all shapes bobbed down downtown streets in unusually high numbers.
Laura Bush insisted at midday that the president was enthusiastic about wearing white tie and tails - though admittedly after being persuaded by his wife and secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, to elevate the dinner to that exalted level in the first place.
"We thought if we ever were going to have a white-tie dinner, this was going to be it," Laura Bush said.
Presidential spokesman Tony Snow disputed any notion the royal visit was a welcome break for a White House burdened by low approval ratings and acrimonious tussles with congressional Democrats over the Iraq war.
"There's a lot of other activity going on," he said tersely.
The Queen and Prince Philip were treated to a trumpet fanfare, a 21-gun salute and a parade by the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps at a morning arrival ceremony attended by thousands of guests. From there, the Bushes and the royals repaired to a very exclusive lunch, with only the two countries' ambassadors and a few family members.
The leaders and their spouses then mingled briefly on the street with dozens of British and U.S. schoolchildren. Bush, in the unusual position of playing second fiddle, followed while the Queen accepted bouquets of flowers and signed autographs.
Surrounded by a full honour cordon, the first couple greeted the royals on the North Portico for the fifth state dinner of the Bush presidency. Laura Bush helped the Queen from her car and advance co-ordination kept the ladies' attire from clashing.
Laura Bush wore an aqua creation by Oscar de la Renta with rhinestones, silver beading and a bolero jacket, while the Queen had a cream gown with a sparkling bodice, a blue sash, long white gloves and a diamond tiara.
Among the 134 guests in the State Dining Room decked out in white and gold were scores of diplomats, businessmen and members of Congress. Other than Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and golfer Arnold Palmer, the celebrity quotient was low.
A number of top Bush fundraisers made the cut. Some were so-called Rangers, who raised over US$200,000 for Bush's 2004 re-election campaign, including automotive executive James Click, investor Brad Freeman and former Enron president Richard Kinder. Former U.S. commerce secretary Donald Evans, who ran Bush's campaign fundraising in 2000, was also in attendance.
The menu and entertainment were designed as a showcase of U.S. best: spring pea soup with caviar, Dover sole almondine, spring lamb with chanterelle sauce and local vegetables and an arugula, mustard greens and romaine salad, said executive chef Cristeta Comerford.
Virtuoso Itzhak Perlman was playing violin after the meal.
But after all the excitement and hundreds of hours of preparation, Laura Bush suggested the white-tie affair could not only be their first - but last. She called the dinner, somewhat wistfully, "the most elegant and most formal that we'll host."

Canada's poppy quarters caused sensational warnings of 'spy coins' in U.S.
Mon May 7, 4:49 PM
By Ted Bridis
WASHINGTON (AP) - An odd-looking Canadian quarter with a bright red flower was the culprit behind a false espionage warning from the U.S. Defense Department about mysterious coins with radio frequency transmitters, The Associated Press has learned.
The harmless "poppy quarter" was so unfamiliar to suspicious U.S. army contractors travelling in Canada that they filed confidential espionage accounts about them. The worried contractors described the coins as "filled with something man-made that looked like nano-technology," according to once-classified U.S. government reports and e-mails obtained by the AP.
The silver-coloured 25-cent piece features the red image of a poppy, Canada's flower of remembrance, inlaid over a maple leaf. The unorthodox quarter is identical to the coins pictured and described as suspicious in the contractors' accounts.
The supposed nano-technology on the coin actually was a protective coating the Royal Canadian Mint applied to prevent the poppy's red colour from rubbing off. The mint produced nearly 30 million such quarters in 2004 commemorating Canada's 117,000 war dead.
"It did not appear to be electronic (analog) in nature or have a power source," wrote one U.S. contractor, who discovered the coin in the cup holder of a rental car. "Under high power microscope, it appeared to be complex consisting of several layers of clear, but different material, with a wire-like mesh suspended on top."
The confidential accounts led to a sensational warning from the Defense Security Service, an agency of the Defense Department, that mysterious coins with radio frequency transmitters were found planted on U.S. contractors with classified security clearances on at least three separate occasions between October 2005 and January 2006 as the contractors travelled through Canada.
"We'll have a good laugh over it," said John Regitko, who writes a newsletter for a leading coin-collecting organization, the Canadian Numismatic Association. "We never suspected there was such a thing (as spy coins) anyway."
Regitko predicted the quarter will become especially popular among collectors because of its infamy as the culprit behind the spy warning, despite the quarter's wide availability. "Everybody has some in their drawer at home," he said.
One contractor believed someone had placed two of the quarters in an outer coat pocket after the contractor had emptied the pocket hours earlier. "Coat pockets were empty that morning and I was keeping all of my coins in a plastic bag in my inner coat pocket," the contractor wrote.
The Defense Department subsequently acknowledged it could never substantiate the espionage warning, but until now it has never disclosed the details behind the embarrassing episode.
In Canada, senior intelligence officials had expressed annoyance with the American spy-coin warnings as they tried to learn more about the oddball claims.
"That story about Canadians planting coins in the pockets of defence contractors will not go away," Luc Portelance, now deputy director for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, wrote in a January e-mail to a subordinate. "Could someone tell me more? Where do we stand and what's the story on this?"
Others in Canada's spy service also were searching for answers. "We would be very interested in any more detail you may have on the validity of the comment related to the use of Canadian coins in this manner," another intelligence official wrote in an e-mail. "If it is accurate, are they talking industrial or state espionage? If the latter, who?" The identity of the e-mail's recipient was censored.
Intelligence and technology experts were flabbergasted over the warning when it was first publicized earlier this year. The warning suggested that such transmitters could be used surreptitiously to track the movements of people carrying the coins.
"I thought the whole thing was preposterous, to think you could tag an individual with a coin and think they wouldn't give it away or spend it," said H. Keith Melton, a leading intelligence historian.
But Melton said the army contractors properly reported their suspicions. "You want contractors or any government personnel to report anything suspicious," he said. "You can't have the potential target evaluating whether this was an organized attack or a fluke."
The Defense Security Service disavowed its warning about spy coins after an international furor. The United States said it never substantiated the contractors' claims and performed an internal review to determine how the false information was included in a 29-page published report about espionage concerns.
The Defense Security Service never examined the suspicious coins, spokeswoman Cindy McGovern said. "We know where we made the mistake," she said. "The information wasn't properly vetted. While these coins aroused suspicion, there ultimately was nothing there."
A numismatist consulted by the AP, Dennis Pike of Canadian Coin & Currency near Toronto, quickly matched a grainy image and physical descriptions of the suspect coins in the contractors' confidential accounts to the 25-cent poppy piece.
"It's not uncommon at all," Pike said. He added that the coin's protective coating glows peculiarly under ultraviolet light. "That may have been a little bit suspicious," he said.
Some of the U.S. documents the AP obtained were classified "Secret/Noforn," meaning they were never supposed to be viewed by foreigners, even the United States' closest allies. The government censored parts of the files, citing national security reasons, before turning over copies under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act.
Nothing in the documents, except the reference to nanotechnology, explained how the contractors' accounts evolved into a full-blown warning about spy coins with radio frequency transmitters. Many passages were censored, including the names of contractors and details about where they worked and their projects.
But there were indications the accounts should have been taken lightly. Next to one blacked-out sentence was this warning: "This has not been confirmed as of yet."
The Canadian intelligence documents, which also were censored, were turned over to the AP for $5 under Canada's Access to Information Act. Canada cited rules for protecting against subversive or hostile activities to explain why it censored the papers.

A great weekend
Well I finished off "Back on Blossom Street (or back to blossom street) by Debbie Macomber and I loved it. I always love her books any ways. lol I also read a book by Mary Kruger called, Died in the Wool. I really liked it. Was a good pace and I enjoyed the characters. Now I am reading one of her books set in 1895, a mystery as well and the name escapes me at the moment. I am enjoying it as well.
Also, I casted on my prayer shawl last night. Got 30 rows done last night and I am almost done the first ball of yarn. I am doing it in the Mediterranean colour and love it! Greens and browns are my favourite!

Its a nice day out today and hubby has cut the grass, drained the pool (hopefully it can be opened soon), hehe, and some other stuff outside. Myself, I went shopping (nothing interesting) but groceries and stuff for the house and a new soccer ball for the kids.
Well off to start supper and do some more laundry.
Have a great night. It is suppose to be in the 20's this week so it will be a fabulous week!
Choi!

Saturday's doodles
Well I though I would of gotten more done this weekend. I've made one dishcloth on the way up. One pillow case is almost finished. I am cross stitching it and it has 10 snowflakes of different sizes. Taking longer than I thought it would but I like it.
Matt wants his quilt sewed by grandma and not tied quilt by me. So... his quilt is on the quilt frame so I couldn't do my horse shoe one. Its flannel with horse heads and horse shoes. Done in beige and burgundy. I think it will be nice when its done and it will be warm. I have extra material of both and since I bought it 3-5 years ago I can't remember what I was going to do with the extra. Duh!!!!
Oh!! I have started my Irish Hiking Scarf (IHS). Not that far along but its coming. I will work on it on the way home. I might be able to get the second pillow case started tonight as well. My french nots are coming along. Its been years since I have had to do them. They will get better with each pillow case I do.
And its been raining off and on all weekend. The poor dog has been caged for most of the trip but when we get his paws cleaned off and dry then he gets some freedom. But then its normally time to let him out again! lol
Well time to get ready to go for dinner. Its my mil's birthday and we are taking her out for supper. To Montana's ... so she just might get the ears! heehehe

for 40% of this week so I had to get a copy! hehehe Looking forward
to reading it this weekend.
Also was at Mary Maximum's and after 3 months they finally have the
purse handles I was looking for! so I picked up both pairs and will
use them for my daughters purse and mine!! Oh! Got the new copy of
Simple Knit that's out (I think that's what its called).
Off to Hobby Lobby I went and they had their scrap booking stuff for
50% off. Okay I don't scrap book but I like the stuff so I bought
some. {shaking my head} I got two corner cutters, rub on stamps,
and paper.
Spent about $60 and hand no problem getting back across the border.
I wanted to get more stuff but I don't want to pay the duty! Will
make another run maybe later this week.
So what is everyone else up to?
Happy Knitting!

What I did on a nice and warm Sunday
The kids and I went and had bridge fries (fries under the Twin bridges in Point Edwards). Took awhile to get them but they were great. The fries - the kids were okay. lol We brought pop with us and set and watched boats, wave runners going down the St. Clair River at the base of Lake Huron. The current at the bridge is REALLY strong. The kids wanted to go to the park but I said I'd take them to the one by us.
>
> So we get home and I run some Brownie forms to a lady, hubby got our bikes down. We went for a bike ride to the Library and the Park (its ajacent to the public school), stopped and order books and the kids got some. They played in the park and we road towards home.
>
> I was smart and brought my camera with me!!! Got some great shots of the kids on the rocks and down by the water.
>
> Its 25C in Sarnia today and lots of people are out doing yard work, walking, riding their bikes, seadoing.
>
> I hope you are enjoying your day as well. I know! I know! The yard needs work and the laundry still needs to be done but its been a great day with the kids!

Miki's First Communion
The weather turned out to be great, alittle cool but no rain or snow. Miki looked beautiful! I was ready to cry. Her hair was done up in ringlettes and it she looked really pretty in her dress. Pictures to come. It took our hair dresser an hour to get all the curls done but it was worth it.
There were four kids from her class that took first communion this week. A few of the parents thought it would have been nice if the priest would of mentioned them BUT there is a solumn first communion June 10th with ALL the grade two's. So, she gets to wear her dress again.
Lots of food and drinks. She got some really nice gifts and the lots of gifts of cash. :) The DQ cake was good and we actually still had some left.
I did most of the clean up yesterday (Monday) as I was pooped. Lots of planning and cleaning. We had turkey, ham - yes I cooked both on Saturday nice and hubby sliced them, fresh fruits, shrimp, cheese and cracker platter, buns, cesaear salad and cake for dessert. We have enough leftovers to last us the week!
But it was nice to have my in-laws, my aunt, my parents and my sister and her family there. Hubbies sister is in UAE and his brother is a minister and weren't able to attend as well as my cousin who's wife works weekends in a Nursing Home. They were missed but we had a great time.
My newest niece was an angel and slept through the service and her sister was good as gold too.
I will post pictures once I am on my computer.

I did it!
I am officially a SAHM again! For how long? I'm not sure. But the stress, the polictics and the bullshit I've been putting up with for 4 years is now behind me. I loved what I did but - when you get pulled in many directions and then not sure if your right or wrong anymore and if your listening to the BIG BOSS and then your manager says do it HER way and no other way. I say fuck that.
Maybe I am having my mid-life crisis' early. Hell I'll be 40 next year but I don't have to go to work feeling like I'm going to be sick, or have to walk on eggshells. My stomach and that has been feeling abit better lately.
Now I can start to look for a job I may enjoy. I still want to open a yarn shop but that will be after we sell the farm (when ever that maybe).

Tie quilt and 2 pillow cases done
It was a really productive weekend! I also got done the Tie Quilt of Lighting McQueen and Mater from the Cars movie for Olivia and I got done the 2 pillow cases of snoopy sleeping. Originally they would be for Quincy but he's still not 100% trained so they will be for people and not the dog. I can do one for him down the road.

Another dishcloth
Well I couldn't sleep this morning so I started another dishcloth at 7:30am and I finished it at 8:45pm this morning. Its another three crosses dishcloth. I have started the February Love one, from my monthly KAL group in red. I have about 5 rows done so far.
Quincy is having fun with his new cousin, Muggies. Muggies is a part Bichon and shiz pooh. Quincy is having fun barking at him and Muggies is humping Quinn. Guess they like each other! At least they are not fighting.
Will post more later.

Three Crosses Dishcloth
Well I just started and finished a three crosses dishcloth tonight in lilac. Turned out nice. I really like this pattern and its a good representation of Easter. In my humble opinion. The pattern is a free one from Rhonda White of www.knittingknonsense.com She has some really cool patterns and I love doing them.
Hoping to get caught up on my KAL's this weekend as well. I am going to be working on a little tie quilt of the Cars movie. My niece just loves Lighting McQueen and hopefully do a couple pillow cases with the snoopy material I have. I'm not a big sewer but I have my aunt and mil to help me! Gotta love ladies that can actually sew.
As you may tell we are at the farm for the weekend. Hubby got a free rototiller from free cycle. Spent a
little money and it works like a dream. Its too big for our garden at home but perfect for the farm.
Well its getting late. Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend work
I was hoping to work on a hat for my son yesterday but hubby had other ideas. No! Not that! lolHe (and then me) decided to clean half of the basement. My side!
Well my fruit cellar is clean and I have removed about 40 jars..giving to a friend, out went the old deep fryer I haven't used since we moved 12 years ago, a food processor that broke last year and a few junkie things.
I cleaned up my yarn as well. Wow!! I still want to put it in groups, chunky, cotton, sayelle, etc... I found 50gr balls of CanadianPatons, 50 gr Shetland chunky (from way back when). Some colours are like WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!
They are now all in 80L totes (6 ofthem) and my BIG tote (160L) has the brownie games and stuff. Till I can get a tote for my brownie stuff. We condensed the two freezers to one. Cleaned them out and miraclesof miracles my laundry is caught up. Till I stipped my bed last night. It does look great down there.
Now to get the kids side done and then into the bedrooms. So I guess spring cleaning is here for me too.
Today dd is making her First Reconciliation at 2pm. So I am not doinga whole heck of alot. Well off to throw another load in the washer.
Have a great day!
Leigh Ann
PS On Sunday I got ds hat done for his play that's coming up. Just have to make the ears.

What a gorgeous day it is today!
Hi everyone! What a gorgeous day it is today in S-W Ontario. The temps are sitting at 20C at the moment and I have a blanket and quilt out on the line to dry. Bath rugs are going next. There's a 40% chance of showers but then I will have that rain smell freshness on my items. lol (Since this early post I have put aload of bedding and towels out on the line. The towels have alittle ways to go still).
There was a thunderstorm last night or morning around 3am and itdidn't last long. The tulips, crocuses and daffodils are coming along nicely. So arethe weeds! I actually pulled some today as well.
Started on the toyroom and lets just say I'd rather pull the weeeds then try and clean up the kids side!

Who turned on the snow machine?
It was such a beautiful day yesterday and now it snowing like crazy! I can barely see the grass. Thank goodness I got the rake out and did the doggie doo doo pick up. At least I don't have to worry about him eating it. Yuck! Hubby got my cloths line up and fixed so I can use it later this week. Supposedly it suppose to be 18 c by Wednesday. We will see.
I got 3 more dishcloths done and only 1 left to do! Yeah!!! Thank goodness! I am now really get sick of the pattern but I will perserve and get it done. I also started a purse for dd. She picked the colours our at Mary Maxim's, the only hing they didn't have was the handles I wanted. I wanted the same ones that they used as they were adorable. Will have to do a border run and see if I can find them.
I did read 3 more books this weekend. Will post on the other blog about them.
Well I have a tonne of things to do.... the usual suspects, laundry and dishes, etc.
Have a great day!

Successful knitting weekend at the farm
It was a good weekend to knit at the farm. By Monday night I had knitted 5 dishcloths and finished the Harry Potter scarf for my son(see previous post for that).
Haven't knitted anything since I've been home. Catching up on the laundry. Its never ending. ugh!!! found out dd has exchemia on her feet and not athlete's foot. Thank goodness! I didn't think it was that but you never know.
Not feeling to great today still have the ulcer. Hopefully soon will be back to my old self.
Off to knit or more laundry.

three more projects done
still haven't stated when I am starting my next go at this. My birthday was late last week and I went shopping and didn't see anything I liked! Its March Break right now so I think after its done I will be on the yarn diet for 2 months at least.
Since yesterday I have made 2 more of my dishcloths (is there no end to them), lol, and I finished off my sons Harry Potter scarf. It called for 6 repeats and I only did 2. Enough for him to tuck it under his coat and its not done in the Harry Potter colours but in Black and Grey. Looks sharp though I will have to block it. Matches his hat as well.
Well its late and time for bed. Happy knitting everyone!

Hat and Scarf set done for my daughter
I finished my daughters hat and scarf set last night. The scarf is made of Bernat Baby Lash and the hat from Bernat Satin. Its the same pattern as my niece's in pink. My friend at work and some co-workers liked it. I love it!
another hat
I'm on a roll with hats! Not sure why I am in the mood for these but I am. I started this one last night and got half way through it and I finished it tonight. Sewed and everything.
Its multi-coloured blue and for my daughter and was made out of Bernat Satin. I have yarn for my son but I'm not sure of a pattern. Don't want him to be teased at school so will look for one for him. Then I can do a scarf for him too.
Well off to start another of those dish cloths for the brownies.

Happy Valentine's Day
Well I woke up and felt like someone ran over me with a snow plow. I feel like crap. Didn't do a whole lot as I had the day off and it was snowing like crazy. Love that! The buses were cancelled and we let the kids stay home if they wanted too. They actually were good!
Last night I made 55 cupcakes and a small 8 inch cake for Valentine's Day. They are all iced and I sprinkled red lips on them. The kids will be taking them to school tomorrow. If I don't feel well tomorrow I am staying home in bed.
Hubby went into town and got us some fish from Prudy's. I had orange roughy and he had white fish. We had rice with it and had a nice supper together. Also, had a nice hot bubble bath too.
Well off to do some knitting for the night.

Snow
Finally we have some more snow! Not like New YOrk who has 8 feet or Owen Sound who got at least 2 feet up to 4 feet. Then there's us with just a sciff of snow. Hopefully we will get a good dumping of the white stuff. I am off tomorrow but the kids could get a snow day then. Then what do I do with 55 cupcakes and a small cake.
Well the Gilmore Girls are on. Off to see what the girls are up too.

Finished two more projects
Well the knitting needles are on fire! I finished the hat for my niece and it turned out cute!! she will definitely look adorable. As she is! lol I started one for my daughter but not liking the yarn so I am going to frog it and start again.
I did make a pair of blue baby booties up. At work three girls are pregnant and two of them are having boys. Just have to sew them up and do the string to go through the eyelets. Going to make another set for the other girl.
Well its 11pm and time to hit the sack. Morning will come early and I have to work.

Finished my niece's scarf last night
I finished up the scarf for my niece. It turned out nice. Too measure it I had one of my kids get on their knees so I could see how the length would be.I started a hat for her out of Bernat Satin with two strands. Had a problem on row 3 and had to frog. Will start it again tonight. Its in pink as well and will match the scarf nicely.
Have a great day. I'm off to work!

Eventful evening
Well we had an eventful evening tonight. Went to brownies and had fun with the games and the pencil craft. We played : giggling bellies, musical hearts, be my valentine smile, bubble gum blow, and Steal my heart. We had prices for the bubble gum game, steal my heart and musical hearts. The craft was a butterfly on a pencil.
My daughter got her fish finally! She got 3 Neon Tetras. Her tank is only 1.77 gallons and we couldn't get any different fish. These are the perfect size for it. I will be looking for a bigger tank later on.
Well fishies are in their new home (hopefully none die) and I want to start a hat for my niece. I found a neat pattern at www.bevscountrycottage.com/hattnmitts.hmtl

I have today off and I am enjoying it. Though I will have to workthis weekend and every other from now on. I haven't worked weekendsfor almost 2 years. Oh well.... we will see how it goes.
Any way! I went to Sarnia Craft Supplies who are having their 4thanniversary to take a look around. Nothing caught my fancy! Iguess with all the yarn I have at home I am feeling guilty.I did buy stuff for my brownie meeting tonight and a purple tote toput my cotton yarn in. I found more than I thought I had. Eeks!Could me more buried in the stash. Hopefully I have gotten all thesurvivors out!

Well I should get supper on and get everything ready for tonight.Keep warm and hopefully you don't have any snow. Its sunny here right now and its nice to see.

I bought these two bibs at Mary Maxims for $2 someting each. A friend of mine did them for me as I didn't have the time. Didn't she do a great job. My neice (and sister) loved them.

Miki's sleepover cake. I used teddy grahams for the people in the sleeping bag and the butterfly sprinkles as a pattern on the bedspread.

Baby its cold outside!
Brr!!! I woke up this morning and it was -28C (with the windchill). I take back every laugh and snicker I had for those provinices that were at -40 to -45C. Brrrrrr. Tomorrow its suppose to be achilly -30C. I don't think its been this cold for along time.
The fireplace is going almost none stop. We've been keeping the heat at a respectable temperature and dropping it abit at night. I've knitted on my monthly KAL dishcloth. Looks really cute and I think I know the pattern (won't say just incase anyone else is on here too). I am also still knitting on #22 and I am really getting sick of orange! lol I have to see what else I have on the needles; I do have quite a few different projects that I could do.
Or organize my stash. My sister maybe come over this afternoon with the girls. The baby is getting so big! She's 1 month and 1 day old now.
Well off to have some lunch and tidy up. I think I will send hubby to the grocery store for some supplies. Thank goodness its just around the corner.

Next! # 22 in dishcloths
Yeah! I finished #21 and I am on # 22! I also went into the monthly KAL dishcloth and have started the February one. Knitted 29 rows on it and have a few rows of #22 done.
My arm is killing me but I am going to continue. I have some good drugs for inflamation that will help. Either that or the cooler I am having will help more!
Its cold here in S-W Ontario with the windchill its -21C and there are windchill warnings, storm warnings and road closures in other parts of Ontario. Glad to be home infront of the fire and knitting. I did get some laundry done as well and now I am off to watch a repeat of CSI Miami and knit on the dishcloth.Have a great night!

New month of destashing
Okay I am going to do the one month destashing again. Hopefully I will get alot more knitting done this month than last.My goals:
1. Knit the rest of those darn dishcloths up. I'm still on # 21, its so cold outside I am staying home and going to sit by the fire and knit today (with my tension bandage on). I really shouldn't be lifting boxes of wood to put in the fire place! hehe
2. Sew my sons sweater up and tuck all the ends in.
3. Or I will finish knitting my daughters sweater and then sew it up and tuck all the ends in.
4. Scarf for my neice.
I am hoping to get half of this done by the end of the month or the 3rd of March.** I may allow myself 1 day to go to the Anniversary sale at the yarn shop. I have to see if they send me a email on what the deals are.
Knit on!!

I made it through the month of Janaury
We I was successful at not buying any yarn or any knitting paraphanelly for the month of January. Bad news is I didn't get alot of knitting done. I knitted two things. pathetic am I. Though it was really busy month for me and my tennis elbow flared up again.
I am going to do it again though for another month.
Start day will be February 5th. Maybe going away and I want to check out a new yarn shop. I hear that the yarn is pricey so it just my be a browsing trip. Also my local craft store is having its anniversary sale. I want to take a looksey. Probablly won't buy anything but to see.
Happy Knitting everyone!

Happy Birthday to my mom and my daughter
We went down to my parent's place for my daughters birthday and my moms. Mom's was Jan 24 and dd is Feb 2. Yes she is a ground hog baby and this year her birthday is on a PD day. Party time. We are throwing her a slumber/sleepover birthday party.
Anyway we get to moms and have a nice visit. My sister and her family come too and I get to hold my new neice who is 26 days old. What a sweety! I brought presents for baby, big sister and grandma. Grandma is make a jean quilt and her scissors aren't up to snuff so I got her a pair that would work.
It snowed alot today and the afternoon was bright and sunny. We went home and the roads were snow cover. Thank goodness for the 4 wheel drive. All was well till stupid decides to pass a car as another 4x4 passed. Duh!!! The car starts coming over into our lane - I scream and swearand covered my eyes as hubby keeps its on the road. Lets just say I made me a stiff drink when I got home to get the shaking hands to stop.
Other than that the trip and the visit was great.

Dishcloth # 21
Well I am on dishcloth number 21 for my brownie group. I re-adapted a shamrock pattern into a Trefoil. At the beginning I thought I'd need to knit about 24 dishcloths for brownies and leaders. Well we have 28 brownies, 4 leaders and 2 helpers. Needless to say I have 34 dishcloths to do all together and as you know I am on 21. Having tennis elbow or a sore elbow hasn't helped at all. I am going to start working on them on my lunch break. I am half way through this one and will have it done tomorrow.
I actually took all my knitting stuff out of the living room to the basement today. Next I am going to sort and inventory my stash. A friend of my mom is knitting mittons and scarfs and stuff for a women's group in my town. I am going to call her and see what type of yarn she needs and donate some to the cause. I know I won't get to it all and she will put it to good use. She is a beautiful knitter too. Tillie learnt to knit in Belgium by the nuns and she has shown me stitches and helped me on a few projects. Her work is amazing. I know she can make an adult sweater in a day (that's how fast and well she knits).
Well its getting late and I have to be up early. Have a great night.

I'm an Aunt again!
My sister and her hubby had a baby girl this morning at 3:11am. She weighed in at 9 lbs, both mom and baby are doing fine. No name yet but hopefully by tomorrow.
The kids and I went to see them at the hospital and she is definitely cute! Heavy too! We stayed for an hour and total drive time was 2 hours.
Can't wait to see her again.

1st project done for 2007 - cable headband for my daughter
After two months of tennis elbow, I've started knitting again. Its not perfect (the elbow) but I am in the mood to knit. I just completed a cable head band for my daughter. Its done in a country blue, shetland chunky and took less than a 50 gram ball to do.

Forgot to mention that the cable pattern is from the Family Circle Great Ideas Knitting and Crochet magazine, vol 13, no 5 (August 1987). It also has a matching easy knit bulky sweater to go with it. Took me three tries to get it right. Was watching Air Buddies as I did it. Now to make one for me!

New Year Resolutions for 2007
Well its time to list my resolutions for 2007.
1. Loose 30 lbs. I'd like to loose more but I am going to loose 30 lbs this year. I turn 40 next year and I want to look fabulous! I guess that means I need to exercise as well! Ahhhh!! I am in the mind set and I am going to do it. I will be tracking my progress on www.fitday.com to see how its going.
2. Genealogy. Getting back on board with this and hopefully get it all organized. That will probablly take a year. But my main goal is getting out to the LDS family centre and start looking for those elusive relatives and to get my transcribing down of the two parishes I volunteered a couple of years ago to do.
3. Knitting. Not that it isn't as important as the others as I love to knit. My goal is to use yarns in my stash, I am joining two stashalongs to help with this.
One is called the Stashalong and you can decide on how long you want to do the destasing for, one month, two, or more. I am going for 1 to get the feel for it. Also I will be trying to finish some WIPs (works in progress for the none knitters), and if I am not going to use the yarn I am going to sell it. I will post more about this in another blog.
Second one is called Knit from your stash 2007. Its a nine month destashing. I have listed this one and have made some ammendments to it.
4. Trying to figure out how to post the damn side bars on this blog. I still can't figure it out. I am not computer stupid. Maybe I should just get hubby to do it.
Since its only January 1 I may make some revisions or additions in the coming week.

Definitely my last post
I just finished a scarf. Its in silver and fluffy. Not sure of the yarn off hand but started it during the Erin Brocovich movie and then I watched failure to launch.
there's about 25 minutes till the new year and I don't think I will make it. My eyes are closing as I write this.
See yeah next year!
2007 Jan 1 - Here's a photo of the scarf I made last night. It was made with Radiant yarn ( 100% polyester) and I used 2 balls. Its the third scarf of this type I have made. For the material that it is it knits up nice and isn't hard against the skin. A friend of mine is doing me a favour and I am going to give this to her as a thank you. Actually she got the purple scarf of this type for Christmas and her mom loved it so if she wishes to give it to her mom she can.

Happy New Year
I believe that this will be one of my last postings of the year. Still have 6 1/2 hrs left till New Years eve. Hoping to start a scarf that will be a thank you for a friend who has been cross stitch baby bibs for me (for my sister). I can't wait to see them or the baby that's due in 3-4 days!
My tennis elbow I believe is getting better so you know that when I go back to work on Tuesday it will hurt like heck again. I got alot of knitting done but I am going to try the knit from my stash for 2007. Nine months of not buying yarn! Ahhhh! I can do this. I guess I should amend my list in case I go anywhere really cool that sells awesome yarn but I will not.
I will post my new years resolutions tomorrow.
Have a Happy new Year and stay safe tonight. Peace to all and lets hope 2007 is a great year.

Knit from your stash 2007.

I am going to try this but I am going to make a few changes. I do not knit socks though I have gotten some sock yarn. Probablly will switch this for scarf yarn.
Knit From Your Stash 2007!
L-B mentioned to me that she was thinking about attempting to knit from her stash exclusively in 2007. I, of course, laughed at her initially, but started thinking that attempting to knit from my stash exclusively was not a bad idea. Both L-B and I have stashes of epic proportions. L-B had suggested a period of 9 months of knitting from the stash, so that we could go to Stitches East next October and buy yarn there.
So, in a phone call, we sketched out our guidelines.
Knit From Your Stash 2007: Guidelines for L-B and Wendy
1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months.
2. We will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. Scarf yarn does not count. What? You think I am made of stone?
2.b. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that we really and truly do not have the yarn for, we may buy yarn to knit that gift.
2.c. If I am knitting something and run out of yarn, I may purchase enough to complete the project.
2.d. We each get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- we are each allowed to fall off the wagon one time.
3. We are allowed to receive gifts of yarn.
4. I do participate in the knit and tea exchange so I am exempt for that. (my last pal was from Hawiai and I didn't think sending her wool wold be appropriate). Also, I participate in dishcloth swaps - though I should have enough yarn for these and the KALS (I may have to add a colour to complete the dishcloth of the month.
Anyone else who would like to join us in this is welcome to do so! Feel free to link to this page or to post the guidelines on your own blog. You may also alter the guidelines to suit your own situation.

Its finally snowing!
Wow! After a fantastic week of weather; with temps as high as 16C we are actually getting snow! It was -4C with a windchill of -11C. Lets hope it kills off all of those flu bugs and makes it feel alot like Christmas.
I haven't been around for abit as I can't knit. My arm is screwed up yet again. Or still depending on how you want to look at it. About 4 weeks ago I helped my hubby take the tauno cover off of the truck and lets just say I couldn't even squeeze the tooth paste with my left hand. And to top it off I am left handed. Now two weeks ago I did abunch of stuff at work and yes it hurts like hell again. Ugh!! Went to the chiropractor and he thinks its tennis elbow. So I am off to see him twice a week for two weeks. Hopefully my insurance will cover it.
Now what I need to do for Christmas is:
finish shopping
do Christmas cards
knit 20 dish cloths still for our brownie camp in Janaury
2 scarves for Christmas
finish Miki's sweater
sew Matt's sweater
do some head bands and hats for the kids.
make a scarf for my niece and a scarf to match.
I am thinking of putting the tension bandage on and knit. To hell with and suck it up and then bitch. lol
Hopefully I will be able to complete some of this before Christmas.
Well have to get ready for puppy class. Quincy is starting to see the light and hasn't messed in the house. Now his cage yes but not the carpet.
Have a great night!

Brownie enrollment
My roses were still in bloom in October
KTS is here
Okay! It really wasn't delivered like this. I had to get it from the post office but it makes for a great shot!

Hmm.... what could be inside??????

Look at all the cool stuff!

I'm abit behind in postings but my yarn and tea from KTS2 came in Octobre 27 and this is the letter sent to my pal.
Thank you Kerri! I love it! It came in earlier this week and hubby was hiding it on me. Ugh!! I'm short and don't really look up well he told me yesterday and I opened it. Also I have been distracted this week as we got a new puppy on Monday night.
I love the Opal sox yarn and bamboo needles. The colours in it are beautiful! I haven't tried socks yet but now its a must! Love the milk duds and the other chocolate is awesome. The kids like them too. I love the yarn tainer that is so cool. I've seen these around and now I have one.
The tea! I can't wait to try them The lemon echinacea ones will be used soon. I think I'm getting a cold and they will be good on my throat. We have Celestial seasoning here and they are great though I haven't tried the peppermint one yet. I love the Ineeka can and Chamomile. Before the knitted tea swaps I had never drank loose tea. Now that I have I am enjoying it.
Thank you again and happy birthday! If there is anything from Canada that I can send you let me know and I will do so.

A new member to our family

We have added a new member to our family. He is a little Shih-Poo who is black with white on his tummy, tip of his toe and chin and white on the bottom of his paws. We thought of 4 different names: Quincy, Quinn, Lucks, and Harley (we had a Harleigh with are lapapoo). Quincy won out and he's seems to like it. He's only been home for 2 hrs and I can here him crying in the basement. Quincy was born on August 31st, 2006 and is one of seven puppies. If he gets lonely one of the girls at work has his sister. That's how I found out about him was from her! Thank you Linda!
We took some photos at the pet store and at home. He is very photogenic. Well off to down load the photos and then post them.

What I am currently working on
I haven't done a whole heck of alot of knitting this week. My left arm and elbow have been hurting me. I feel 3 years ago at work and hit my elbow on the ground - so a piece of bone is floating around. Every now and then it acts up and it has chosen the last few weeks to do so. I had my tension brace on today and it is helping.
I am still working on the dishcloths and sad to say I haven't gotten any more done. Still working on Number 16. I have however started another scarf, this one is made by Belle and is a lovely shade of black with silver flecks. Very pretty! And very pricey!!! Its $17.95 a ball but I got it for 30% off - still pricey but lovely to work with.
Last week I did a lovely scarve in Patons Carme in white with flecks of brown and black. Feels like a bunny and I love it. Too bad its going to be a price for our social committee at work.
Our brownie enrollment was awesome! We had alot of parents there (I'd say MOST parents came) and we had 17 girls enrolled. Had a lovely cake and McCain's fruit punch. Lots of fun was held by all. This week we are having our Halloween Party. Can't wait! But what will I be?

Snow days
Snow days! Snow days! Good ol' fashion cold days. hehe We had snow on Wednesday, Octobre 12, 2006. This is the first time we have had snow this early in along time! I can't recall snow this early but my mil does. Here is the Sarnia area we had blizzard like conditions and white outs but not alot of snow stayed on the ground. It got cold and the snow was blowing but nothing like Fort Erie, ON or New York or Buffalo.
Haven't done alot of knitting this week but I did make a scarf for a raffle at work. I must say I love it! Its made form Patons Carmen in a white colour with brown and black flecks. It is so soft and feels like a bunny! Everyone at works likes it - so I kept mentioning it was for the Social Committee raffle next month.
Still working on the dish cloths and my daughter's sweater. One of these days it will get done.

Matt and Miki's Sweaters
Well I told the kids that I would work on their sweaters this weekend. Its a long weekend due to our Thaksgiving. Yeah turkey!
So...... I spent tonight and finished off Matthew's sleeve. Pitiful that I only had 30 rows to go. The knitting is done and all I have left for his is to sew the sleeve on and tuck in all the ends. And there is alot!
Now with Miki's I had two sleeves and to finish the front, neck and sew and tuck ends in. Well I completed one sleeve tonight. I would of casted on another one at 12:30am but I want to make sure the length is right (so I don't have to rip it, rip it).
Also, I saw in the Owen Sound Suntimes that Riverside Yarns is finally open. Will have to go and check it out tomorrow. Can't buy any yarn as I have way too much as it is. But if I am good maybe in the spring.
Will post pictures of the sweaters when I am done. My camera is at home and still has to be down loaded from last time.
Choi!

Wow! Almost a month since I posted last.
I can't believe how fast September has flown by. Wow! Alot has happened this month. Kids are back in school and are taking Karate and Miki's in Brownies as well. Haven't signed Matt up for anything else yet but give it time. We do need some free time and I don't want to do anything on the weekends. Maybe skating.
At work one of my co-workers died. Not at work! But at home. He had a massive heart attack and collasped in his drive way. What makes it harder is that his wife works with us too. Management was excellent. They were pulling the staff into the training room in groups and telling us. It was a shock though he was older, 71 yrs old but in great health. This was the early part of September and for me it was the first time in 22 years (since I started working) that someone I worked with died. There's been grandparents, spouces and other family members but never someone I worked with. He was a great guy and everyone loved him. So Dick catch a big one up there in Heaven and I hope the boatings good too! Salute!
On the knitting front I am knitting dishcloths up like crazy. I have changed the shamrock pattern abit to make it into a trefoil and can do one in about 1 1/2 hrs. I have 10 orange ones done and 20 more to go. ugh!! Can't wait. Have some other things on the needles but with this cold I don't feel like knitting.
The cold! Think I got it from the kids. Thanks guys! I guess we share everything here (Robert Munch book). lol Called in sick onn Monday, went to work Tuesday and got everything and I mean everything done yesterday that takes two days. I really wanted to go home. Went in this morning and finished off the schedules (that's my job, I am a scheduler writer for HD) gave them to HR to look at and fixed them, got them signed and gave them to the phone centre to put out. And now I am home and heading for bed.
I don't think I'm going in tomorrow (I marked myself out for two days). Thought if I'm sleeping at 5am I am not going to get up and call in sick. They KNOW I'm sick and now that I won't be in. And to top it off my doctors on holidays till the 10th. Guess it will be emerg or the walkin clinic. It hasn't hit bronchitus yet but I have a feeling its going too.
Well off to bed.
Second Half of our vacation
Well instead of knitting I did the three hour drive up to Owen Sound on Monday. We stopped for supper and got in around7:30pm. Have to say I haven't really knitted since we got here. Why? don't know as I have brought lots to do. I really want to get the kids sweaters done this week or weekend.
Tuesday we just layed around, none of us were really feeling that well. AF is stopping by soon so I think that's my problem but I think everyone else is getting a cold.
Wednesday we headed out to Tobermory. We stopped for a late lunch at Colonel Clarkes Country Inn, Stokes Bay. It was good and the owner was really nice. I think we will be stopping by there again some time. Its said to say the water levels there at Stokes Bay are getting really low. You can see alot of lily pods and garbage in the bays. The highlight was of three young deers that came out of the bush and almost in front of the car. They ran down the road in front of us. I took pictures and will post once we get home. I don't have the cord to download to my in-laws computer.
After lunch we continued on to Tobermory. I wanted to find another light house tea pot. Do you think I could find one? Hell NO! Not a one in the whole town. Got some good peanut brittle and other candies for the kids from the Sweet Shop. The shops were fun to browse and the kids posed for a bunch of photos much to my surprise.
I actually knitted another figure eight dishcloth on our way up and part of the way back and then had nothing to work on. I didn't think I would of finished it all in that trip. Its only 100 kms from our farm. We went over to Sauble Beach and the kids went for a swim. Had to pick up a new bathing suit for Miki as she didn't have one with her. Matt had his from our trip to the states. Got some great shots of them in the water with the sun reflecting off. Can't wait to see them enlarged.
Well off to start another dishcloth called mini cables. Shouldn't be that difficult or take that long.
Off to Collingwood and Wasaga Beach tomorrow. Wasaga Beach has a big water slide park and we have promised to take the kids there. Camera is charging and suits and towels are washed and dried.

New Yarn shop
We went up to Frankenmuth, Mi yesterday (Sunday) and I found an awesome yarn shop. Its called Rapunzel's Unique gifts and yarns. Their web address is: http://www.zehnders.com/new-site/retail-shops/raps.htm
This is the first yarn shop I found up in the area besides the Walmarts, Joann', etc.
I was bad or good depending on your take of it. I bought two skeins of Plymouth yarn Encore Colours in a light blude, mint green and lilac varigate. Thinking of making Olivia a sweater in it.
Also bought 6 skeins of Plymouth Yarn Suri Merino, 2 of a nice light pink and 4 of a sage green colour. Not sure what to make with the green, total yardage is about 440 yards. The pink maybe a hat and scarf for Olivia my neice.
Well off to do some more laundry and head up to the farm. I plan on finishing the kids sweaters and not sure what else.
I did finish a scarf and a dishcloth on the trip. Not liking the yarn I am using for the Irish Hiking Scarf so I may start over with different yarn.
Will post pictures of the yarn later in the week.

Holidays!
I can't believe it! Its finally here! My holidays for the sumer! I've had a few long weekends during the summer but now I get 11 glorious days. Yeah!!!
Started the vacation off right. Went to the chiropractor and then had a massage. It was heavenly and I feel really relaxed now. Still have to pack to take off tomorrow but who cares. Don't worry be happy!
My yarn is packed, I have enough yarn (blue) for 3 dish cloths, blue for a Irish Hiking Scarf (Patons Canadiana) got the pattern from: http://irishhikingknitalong.blogspot.com/, brown yarn from the now defunked Lewiscraft, Acquarius and Libra it will look gorgeous, and to finish the baby sweater I started a couple of weeks ago. Will I get it all done? Who knows but I will get it a try.
When we get back to Canada I will switch up some of the yarn and bring the kids sweaters to finish when we are at the farm.
I am hoping to use some of my "exceptions" while in the states (Michigan). I see Hobby Lobby has 40% off this weekend and Mary Maxum has Boa on for 0.97 cents a ball! That a deal! I don't like to knit with it so I might look for another yarn for a scarf and hat for hubby for Christmas.
Well will post when I can. Oh! Did I mention we might go to Frankenmouth to a giant indoor water park and Bronners! I love CHRISTmas!!
Have a great weekend!

4 hour Bias Baby Afghan
The afghan that was to take 4 hours took around 12. Ugh!! First I screwed up in the beginning and had a loop handing. First time with 25mm needles and 4 strands of yarn together. I've done 2 and 3 but first time for 4.
Soooo, I am knitting and knitting. Decreasing looking pretty good but the loop. I'm over 3 quarters the way done and I see these. Aaaaaawwwwwwwww! Holes! How the hell it happened I don't know. Can you say rip it, rip it, rip it.
Now I have started this a second time and I am almost done again. But! I am running out of one of the varigated colours. So, what's a girl to do. Rip it, rip it back to the half way mark and start yet again. I took out a few extra rows out and proceed to the finish line. Go figure I had extra yarn left when I was done! Maybe I deleted one two many extra rows. It is done and wrapped and ready for the baby shower tomorrow. There was suppose to be fing pom poms on the four corners but hubby thought it might not be good for a baby. He thinks the holely blanket might not be good as they can put their fingures through it. Well its a new pattern for me and my usual one takes a month to do. I only had 15 days to do this and I know it wouldn't off been done for tomorrow.

Well off to bed. Anyone got any ideas for the left over Homespun yarn.

Dishcloth Photos
Leigh's Musings
Wow! I can't believe its been over a month since I have posted to my blog. Done a few dish cloths but its been soooo hot. I did a dish cloth for my dishcloth exchange but she likes blue so I knitted another one in baby blue. I did the crazy 8 pattern from Leisure World. Turned out great!
Last week temps hit up with humidex 43-48C. HOT!! HOT! HOT!! Not wanting to knit at all. I started a baby sweater as I am invited to a baby shower on the 12 of August. Also, order some yarn to do a baby afghan from Lion Brand and also the 25mm needles. I've ripped it out two times because I keep running out of yarn.
The garden! Oh my goodness! The weeds are higher than the veggies. Not sure what the heck is happening out there but its sucks. I don't know where to start first. I have cleared out the rose garden of weeds again and they are back with friends! Ugh!!!! Just don't have the time for this.
Miki is scoring big time in soccer. Matt's not doing bad in baseeball but needs help with hitting. HOpefully next year it will be better.
Well off to finish the baby blanket. Will post picks of the first rip out with the oles later.

Da Vinci's Code
Well ... I finally restarted the book last night and couldn't put it down. I love it! I'm at chapter 37 at the moment. Hopefully will have it done today or tomorrow.
Started my KAL and I am on Day 2 of it. Not sure what it is but will find out soon. Contemplating doing another one. I know I only have one set of 4.5 mm needles with me but Its not that hard to work with another project on your needles. ;)
Off to get everyone showered and to pack hubby and I to go home.
Leigh Ann
PS I hope with all the rain we have gotten at the farm that we got some at home. My poor garden could use it!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!
Its Canada Day today and I am not doing alot. I have finished off my poncho I started on Mai 2 and finished off a dishcloth I started on Juin 29 (figure 8, is what it is called). I did the dishcloth in a variagate and the poncho in a navy blue. Still have to sew it but the rest is at home.
I'm at the farm for a little R & R. My sil and her family are home from the UEA - they are teaching over there for two years. It is so nice to see everyone. The kids have gotten big. My oldest niece has grown into a nice young lady and my nephew is almost as tall as me. That's not hard. My kids are having fun with them. :) My sil brought me a tea pot that they use over there. Its cool and different and it actually is a photo on one of their coin currencies.
Everyone went for Chinese but my nephew, son and I who do not like it. Better go others want on the machine.
Will post pictures when I get back.
Leigh Ann
PS My kids are staying with grandma and grandpa for a week and will be visiting with their cousins. A break for mom and dad! Maybe I will get more knitting done. :)

Update of the past week
Its been a busy week for me. Not enough time in the day for everything I want to do. I worked on Sunday so I could take Friday off. It was the last mass of the school year and also awards presentations too. Needless to say my kids didn't get any awards but it was still nice to go and see everyone.
Monday I ended up with a BIG ol' migraine. It managed to keep me in bed for most of the morning. It was a dull roar at lunch but I still wasn't up to par. I did manager to make two batches of strawberry jam after supper. So I now have 21 jars of freezer jam. Yum!!!
Tuesday I worked on my poncho at work got about 10 rows done and sadly to say that's all the knitting I've done this week. Wednesday night I made strawberry-kiwi freezer jam. 6 more jars are in the freezer. I"m just waiting for the rest of the kiwis to ripen to make the next patch.
Thursday and Friday it rained so no gardening done. The gardens are looking great. I still have to pull out the dead plants that I killexed a few weeks ago to do my rose garden but hopefully start that tomorrow. I also picked up and 8 quarts of strawberries to freeze or make more jam. Haven't used all the berries in the freezer from the last year but more is always better eh!
Today we were suppose to go to baseball but ds isn't feeling to hot (this is 2 weeks without playing) so next we are going come hell or high water. We are going to do lunch and maybe look for a couple of body boards for the kids. The lake is only 2 long blocks from the house and sadly to say I have yet to swim in it. We been here 11 years come Aout. Tomorrow dd is invited to a double birthday at a friend (two friends are having a party).
On top of this I have to get some laundry done, housework done, and start killing the ants that like to invade in the summer. Its not a me thing but everyone where I live gets them.
We also sold the van on Wednesday so we have been down to 1 vehicle. That sucks! I work in town (12 mins away) so hubby and the kids had to drive me in at 6:30am on Thursday, needless to say they weren't too impress when I woke them up and said " lets getting going mommies ready.") Hubbies at the farm getting the truck- caught aride with friends so I didn't have that 6 hours round trip to do.
Okay off to get something done so I can actually, maybe knit later. The kids want their sweaters done. But with these temps I might be able to push it back abit. The way I am going I'll be doing the SOS till Christmas!
Have a great weekend!

The gardens in
Well it took another 2-3 hours but the veggie garden is in now. There's tomatoes, peppers (red and green), onions, carrots, red beets, yellow and green beans, swiss chard (red and green), 3 kinds of lettuces and all the flowers are planted now.
The herbs are in too. I have curly parsley, oregano, chives (reg. and garlic) and mini basil. Can't wait to start eating them.
And to top it off the strawberries are ready at the local farmers market. Box a box and delicious! Going to go picking tomorrow.
Have a great day.

Day 2 of SOS
I guess I can count today as day 2 of SOS. I took the poncho to work to work on it but didn't have time on lunch or breaks. After lunch the old tummy is doing rolly polly's and feels bloated and gassy. Sorry folks!
Have some laundry to finish tonight and hope to get some knitting in and then its garden time! Sorry for the short post but if hubby and kids are going to his parents after school tomorrow then I need to get some stuff done tonight.
Have a good one!

Summer of Stash - what I am doing.
Thought I'd copy what I wrote on the SOS blog so I knew what I was going to do for it.
My name is Leigh Ann and I have a stash problem as well. Over the past month I have picked up alot of new yarn and I still haven't used up yarns from years ago. Did my last purchased yesterday as I new I would be joining this. I am so bad! The yarn was originally $7.99 and on sale for $2.10, what's a girl to do - its a !00% virgin wool and I am going to make two cool hats for the kids for winter, already had picked up some gorgeous cotton that was on sale at the local yarn store as well. Stuff I'd love to knit with but find its pricey.
Any way..... my goals:
1. Not to buy any yarn until after the Labour Day weekend (depending on how much of the stash I have used). See April 2 blog for pictures of the stash. My blog is: http://knittingngardeningjunkie.blogspot.com/
2. To complete some of my UFO's:
a. Matt's sweater
b. Miki's sweater
c. Poncho - not sure who its for yet. Don't think it will fit me.
d. Washcloths - that I am doing for a KAL for group I am on
e. The 6 cable sweater I started back in 1992 that no longer will fit but is almost done.
f. Sewing buttons on a few things that need them and tucking ends into others so that
they are 100% finished.
3. To work on depleting some of my new yarns into the projects that I bought them for:
1. Bernat Satin top for me
2. Bernat Matrix top for me
3. Bernat Matrix poncho for me
4. Hat for Matt - can't think of the name but its 100% virgin wool
5. Hat for Miki - same as above
6. Cotton top for me - Twilley's Freedom Cotton DK in navy
7. various scarves that I have boughten yarn for
8. to use up some of the dish cloth yarns that I have had for awhile.
4. I won't buy any more yarn on sale till after the SOS is done or till I use up alot of this yarn.
I think that's good for me for now. Could add more if I get through these lists.
Exceptions:
1. A knitting magazine that may come out during this time
2. A ball of yarn to finish a project. Shouldn't have too as I normally buy an extra ball.
3. If I go on a fab holiday and see an awesome yarn shoppe and the yarn calls to me. Fat chance this will happen but if it does I would be aloud.
4. Extra stitch counter if I have mutiple things on the go or I loose one. I really don't need any extra knitting stuff as I have alot as is.
What's in it for me in the end.
Yarn used up and a feeling of accomplishment. Hopefully some Christmas presents will be finished and I won't be rushed then.

Summer of Stash - SOS

I am looking forward to joining the Summer of Stash or SOS. I really would like to use up some of the yarns I have and to finish a bunch of projects too. Come to think of it I could get a head start on my Christmas knitting too! Cool!
The link below is the SOS blog:http://soskal.blogspot.com/
I can have two exceptions so I will think of what they will be.

She sent me Chamomile Lavender Herbal Tea (100% organic), Butter crisp bisquits, a vanilla candle, white tea vanilla berry relaxing bath rea, and 2 skeins of lovely mint green 100% hand spun wool. Can't wait to drink, eat relax and knit with it all. Thank you soooo much secret pal!!! Will post pictures later.

Zellers fashion yarn
I thought Zellers sale started today for their yarn. Turns out I didn't read the date of the pull out flyer. Duh!! On thursday and friday any fashion yarn is buy 1 get one free. Well! What's a girl to do! So I was shopping and picked it up now and will go back on Thursday and have them do a refund repurchase.
I picked up:
2 balls Bernat Cotton in sage green
4 balls of Bernat Matrix in acid axis (green and light blue tonnes
6 balls of Bernat Satin in evergreen
2 balls of Bernat Satin in snow
With the Matrix I am going to make a poncho or a cool top from the Lace booklet they have. The Satin I will use for a neat sleeveless top for me. Now don't know when these will all be done but I have lots and lots of new yarns to play with. :)
May have to get more on Thursday! Oops! Did I say that out loud. lol
Hey I could of done that colour of the month thing with all the greens I got! hehe
They had alot of different colours in Boa too. Not a big Boa fan but if people are thing Christmas gifts (I know for some its too soon to think) now is a great time to stock up. That's what I am doing with some of these yarns. Can't wait to get started on everything I've boughten over the last two weeks.
Will try and post pictures later.

Weekend Update
Well I finally got the laundry caught up! I just have to do the rugs. Thank goodness! House got vacuumed, Sparks stuff got sorted (sort off), and I bought some more yarn.
Shhh!! Don't tell my hubby! hehe Zellers had there Bernat Soft Boucle (bag of yarn ) 300 yard for $9.97, well....what's a girl to do. I grab one and will make the poncho that is on the band.
Also, while I was there I picked up some Bernat Matrix - three had three balls, plus a pattern book with 4 patterns for $ 9.97 grabbed one of those as well! Going to do the Lacey poncho that's on the cover. Also, went back today and picked up another package plus one extra ball for the "clubbing" shirt. I think its cool or I will do the shawl on the back cover. Picked up earth shades for both though the second time I wanted to switch the yarn in the bag for some of the green on the shelf. Didn't think that was right so I didn't.
When I was at Walmart and browsing I saw a cool beach bag and thought WOW that would make a great yarn bag and the price was right too. Got it home and put the 2 sweaters I have been working on in it, with the extra yarn plus the front of Miki's sweater. Holds alot of stuff!! Quite impressed with it. And I could still use it for the beach of holidays.
Worked some more on the 3 crosses dishcloth not done yet but within the next few days. The next KAL dishcloth starts tomorrow and I can't wait. And on the 2nd I will find out who I will be sending a dishcloth too. Also, the tea exchange will be starting shortly too. Can't wait to do that one too.
Well its getting late and I have to be up early in the morning.
Have a great night!
